How do we ensure a transmission line is balanced, particularly for long-distance projects?

2025-08-12
For long-distance Overhead transmission lines (OHTL), achieving a perfectly balanced line is challenging due to the asymmetrical physical arrangement of the conductors on a tower. The solution is conductor transposition. This is a periodic swapping of the positions of the conductors along the length of the line. By transposing the conductors, each phase occupies each physical position for an equal distance over the total length of the line. This effectively equalizes the capacitance and inductance of each phase over the entire span, ensuring the line is electrically balanced. We provide the equipment necessary to perform this critical process.
